Kevin Worthington has joined Dallas Airmotive as a regional engine manager covering several Midwestern states. Worthington will be responsible for selling repair and overhaul services on Pratt & Whitney Canada engines. Previously he sold P&WC engine services for Duncan Aviation at its Battle Creek, Mich. location. Worthington will cover Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, focusing on engine services sales for the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A, JT15D, PW500, PW306C and Honeywell 36-series APU. He will be based in Michigan.
National Formosa University (NFU) and Pratt & Whitney signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding that allows NFU students to participate in a curriculum for commercial engine maintenance as well as other professional training at Pratt & Whitney’s customer training center (CTC) in China. During the six-week course NFU students will receive the same instructional and practical training as aircraft maintenance engineers.
Pratt & Whitney has completed assembly of its first PurePower PW1524G engine for the Bombardier C Series. The company held a so-called "last bolt" ceremony today at its Middletown Engine Center in Connecticut to commemorate the milestone. Pratt plans to deliver the engine to its West Palm Beach, Fla. facility later this month to start testing.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has filed a complaint in federal court in an attempt to block Pratt & Whitney from moving 830 union jobs out of Connecticut.

United Technologies last month announced it will lay off 11,600 employees over the next two years. However, P&WC said it isn’t planning any more layoffs than the 1,000 it announced in January.
Pratt & Whitney laid off some 350 U.S.-based salaried employees yesterday in another sign of a projected slump next year in the civil air transport and military aircraft markets. Some 260 people lost their jobs at the company’s main operations in and around East Hartford, Conn. The remaining layoffs affect employees in 12 other states around the country.
