The NTSB has launched a go-team to investigate a fatal accident at Thomson-McDuffie County (Ga.) Airport involving a Beechcraft Premier I yesterday. According to the Safety Board, the twinjet (N777VG) “overran the runway during landing and crashed into the woods” at about 8 p.m. last night, killing five. The pilot and one passenger survived with unspecified injuries, according to an FAA preliminary report.
Bombardier Aerospace launched a “Tweet spot” campaign for MEBA 2012, where attendees Tweet a picture of themselves at designated places at the static display area. The company plans to move its Tweet spots around during the show, but all locations will have Bombardier aircraft in the background. Bombardier said it decided to engage attendees with Twitter at the show, since social media is very popular in the Middle East. Tweet spot photos taken at MEBA should be tagged with #BBAWorld and #MEBA12.
Aviation data services provider FlightAware has extended its free web-based flight-tracking service to Australian customers. This makes Australia the first country outside North America to be offered its web-based flight tracking on FlightAware.com, which tracks both general aviation and commercial flights.

FuelAware allows dispatchers and pilots to submit pricing requests anonymously to FBOs for passenger, pilot and aircraft services and to make reservations at FBOs.
Otonomy Aviation (Booth No. 4609) has completed development of its new Parabellum system for guarding aircraft while they are parked on the ramp. The system uses high definition CAMHD-1 video cameras mounted on the exterior of the aircraft. The cameras can also provide video for the cabin entertainment system.
