Mexico-based FlyMex recently joined the ranks of Wyvern-Wingman approved charter operators. Its fleet of six fixed-wing aircraft and one helicopter includes a Hawker 800 (left) and Bombardier Learjet 60.

FlyMex of Mexico has successfully completed a Wyvern standard audit to earn the Wingman status, which the Trenton, New Jersey-based auditor says demonstrates when a charter operation meets “the highest safety standard.”

Air Charter Scotland officially joined the Wyvern Wingman ranks at the Avinode booth (1047) yesterday at EBACE. The company recently completed a successful Wyvern audit to become Wyvern Wingman qualified for the first time.

Operators that undergo an on-site safety audit and meet Wyvern’s standards receive a recommendation for use by all Wyvern clients.

At NBAA’s Schedulers & Dispatchers annual conference in San Antonio this week, private jet charter and aircraft management provider Excelaire announced that it has once again achieved Wyvern Wingman status.

Wyvern, a global aviation safety auditing, consulting and information services company, recently announced that its Wingman portfolio–flight departments that have undergone the Wyvern audit process–has now grown to more than 120 companies in 29 countries. “Our standards far exceed government regulatory requirements,” according to the company. This mean, Wyvern added, that only companies with a demonstrated commitment to safety make the effort to become a Wyvern Wingman.

New online aircraft charter broker CharterBox is bringing the “name your price” concept to the charter aviation market through a real-time marketplace that matches buyers and sellers of charter. The company says its model will help operators supplement their traditional retail charter business by optimizing the transient movement of their aircraft. CharterBox uses only operators that are Argus Gold or better and/or Wyvern Wingman compliant.

NetJets sister company Executive Jet Management successfully completed an on-site audit and has become a Wyvern Wingman. Charter operators that undergo the on-site safety audit and are found to meet the rigorous safety standards conducted by Wyvern auditors are recommended for use by all Wyvern clients. Operators that successfully complete the audit have already met the Wyvern Standard, a “globally recognized seal of excellence.”

The ranks of the Wyvern Wingmen are set to increase with 26 new and returning charter operators taking safety audits during the months of September and October. It is now 20 years since the Trenton, N.J.-based safety consultancy established the Wyvern Standard and, thankfully, not one of the operators approved under this has suffered a fatal accident in this time.
