Wyvern, the Avinode group’s aviation safety auditing arm, has announced a global expansion of its review standard. Over the last few months the firm has rebranded its audit, which is now called “Wingman,” and will promote operators who have been through the process.

Safety audit specialist Wyvern has joined forces with Aviation Quality Services (AQS) to introduce a common safety standard to the European business aviation market. Wyvern is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gothenburg, Sweden-based Avinode (Stand C755), the leading online charter flight marketplace.
Avinode has appointed Brent Moldowan as managing director of Wyvern Consulting, the aviation safety auditing company based in Trenton, New Jersey. Avinode acquired Wyvern when it merged with its parent company Charter X earlier this year."I am very excited to lead Wyvern during the next phase of the company's growth," Moldowan said.
An early takeoff for seasonal holiday-driven traffic provoked a steep spike in demand for private charter flights. According to the latest forward-looking index from online charter portal Avinode, projected demand for this month was more than 75 points up on the November 1 level at 167.35. The December 1 index was almost 80 points above that recorded on the same day last year.
CharterX Wyvern and Computing Technologies for Aviation (CTA) announced the launch of FlightPortal with FOSLink at NBAA. Charlottesville, Va.-based CTA’s Flight Operating System (FOS) is a flight and operations management software system. CharterX, based in Trenton, N.J., operates a Web-based air-charter marketplace.
CharterX Wyvern has endorsed the NBAA’s recently published NBAA Best Practices for Air Charter Brokering. The NBAA’s best-practices protocols include operational guidelines and safety oversight procedures.
CharterX subsidiary Wyvern Consulting has launched WeFlySafe.com, an online resource for those who fly on chartered aircraft. The site helps charter customers locate vetted, safe air charter operators that meet “The Wyvern Standard.”
Last month Million Air Salt Lake City’s executive aircraft charter department received full approval from auditor Wyvern of Palmyra, N.J. Million Air SLC CEO Bill Haberstock said, “They just arrived, and over the course of several days the Wyvern auditors went through our entire operation.
