Sierra Industries announced a new performance upgrade program today for the legacy Cessna 525/CitationJet, which includes the CitationJet, CJ1 and CJ1+. Dubbed Sapphire, the upgrade is billed as a “comprehensive package of modifications that will enhance performance, reliability and comfort.” Some 660 CitationJets, CJ1s and CJ1+s are potential candidates for the Sapphire program.
Jet Aviation expanded its global MRO and FBO network with the addition of a new facility at Vienna International Airport. The company recently signed agreements with Gate V and Fame Executive Aviation, the previous MRO and FBO service providers at the field, to establish Jet Aviation Vienna. Its business aviation terminal features an operations office, crew lounge and access to a VIP passenger lounge, along with services such as lavatory drainage and aircraft refueling.
Raisbeck Engineering has started FAA certification flight-testing of its new Hartzell composite five-blade swept propeller mod for the Beechcraft King Air 350 series. The Raisbeck/Hartzell team completed all ground and flight vibration and governor output pressure testing early last week before clearing the aircraft for flight-testing, which is expected to be completed by month-end. The new King Air 350 propellers will be formally introduced at the NBAA Convention next month in Orlando, Fla., where more details and preliminary performance improvements will be released.
Gulfstream announced plans on Tuesday to build a new $33 million aircraft paint facility on the southwest side of its Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport headquarters. “The announcement came up unexpectedly as a result of a Savannah Economic Development Agency [SEDA] board meeting that happened that day,” a company spokesman told AIN.
Business aircraft management and charter company Hangar8 Aviation has launched a new repaint facility at its headquarters at London Oxford Airport to help sellers refresh their aircraft’s paint to make it more attractive to buyers. According to Hangar8, 16.5 percent of the 381 private jets in the UK are currently up for sale, making it a buyer’s market.
When Peterborough, Ontario-based Flying Colours purchased JetCorp Technical Services of Chesterfield, Mo., in 2009, each company had a program for converting Bombardier CRJs into business jets: Flying Colours with its ExecLiner and JetCorp with its Renaissance offering, providing foundational synergies for the union.
GA Telesis has signed a long-term agreement with Boeing to sell aircraft and engine material through the Boeing Part Page. GA Telesis is providing overhauled, repaired and new surplus material through a new section of the Boeing Part Page called Part Page Marketplace.
Jet Aviation Basel recently signed an amendment to its Bombardier authorized service center agreement to include the Challenger 350, allowing the MRO to perform line maintenance on the aircraft.
“We are delighted to extend our maintenance support and expertise to owners and operators of the Challenger 350,” said David Ricklin, director of Bombardier maintenance at Jet Aviation Basel. “We maintain a strong working relationship with Bombardier to ensure we are skilled in its technologies, which this approval recognizes.”
