Van Nuys, Calif.-based MRO provider Western Jet Aviation (Booth 4223) has partnered with MJets, a Southeast Asia business aviation service provider, to establish a new FAA Part 145 maintenance facility at the latter’s FBO at Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. The MJets operation is currently a Cessna-appointed service facility and also services Gulfstream aircraft from the G200 through the G650.

For Learjet 20-series operators, Dec. 31, 2015, has been looking like a dark day. That’s the last day aircraft with takeoff weight of less than 75,000 pounds will be allowed to operate in the contiguous U.S. if they do not meet Stage 3 noise standards. But Trine Aerospace (Booth 4492) has a solution that does not involve selling offshore or parting out airplanes.
The strong investment Rolls-Royce has made in customer service was vindicated by the results of this year’s AIN Product Support Survey, which placed the engine maker in joint number-one position. Last year the engine maker established a new operational service desk in Dahlewitz, Germany, and made a series of reforms aimed at making its product service delivery team more responsive.
At its booth here at NBAA 2014, Timken is highlighting its parts manufacturer approval (PMA) and bearing repair services. In September the company announced the year-end closure of its turbine engine overhaul and repair business. No more orders for turbine O&R are being accepted, said Larry Shiembob, director of Timken Aerospace Aftermarket operations in Mesa, Ariz. He added that Timken (Booth 3028) expects to clear its overhaul and repair backlog by the end of October.
Engine condition trend-monitoring specialist Jet-Care has introduced a new version of its webECHO online portal to give aircraft operators easier real-time access to test results and trend reports. The new system is designed to be used on both desktop computers and mobile devices. The improved site brings together analysis and results covering the company’s gas path analysis (GPA) engine trend monitoring, as well as its laboratory testing of oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel, debris and filters.
Advent Aerospace from Rye, N.H., is working on the preparation of two supplemental type certificates (STCs) that will see its patented anti-skid brake system (ABS) become available for the Pilatus PC-12 and Beechcraft King Air 200/300. The ABS is already standard on the Eclipse EA550 and available as an STC retrofit for the EA500.
In addition to an already attention-grabbing design, the Aviation Partners, Inc. (API) Split Scimitar winglet displayed on the exhibit floor at the NBAA Convention also sports a custom paint scheme that pays tribute to the U.S. military.

Ikhana Aircraft Services, a specialist in extending the life of the popular DHC-6 Twin Otter based at French Valley Airport in Murietta, Calif., has been remanufacturing aircraft long before the term became popular in aviation circles. Ikhana–the name stems from the Choctaw word for knowledge and intelligence–was created from the merger of engine specialist Total Aircraft Services and R.W. Martin, the originator of the Twin Otter VistaLiner conversion that opened up spectacular aerial tour opportunities by upgrading fuselages with huge passenger viewing windows.

Maine-based MRO provider C&L Aerospace (Booth 1823) announced that its new aircraft paint shop opened earlier this month. The $3 million facility, a conversion of a 17,000-sq-ft existing hangar at Bangor International Airport, can now accommodate an Embraer Lineage 1000, or it can be partitioned to hold a pair of aircraft the size of a Bombardier Global simultaneously.
