CESSNA 560 CITATION, SAVANNAH, GA., NOV. 25, 2003–A Cessna Citation 560 (N632QS) registered to Convergys Corp c/o NetJets Sales, Oklahoma City, Okla. received minor damage when it landed with the nosewheel retracted on Runway 9 at Savannah (SAV), Ga. There were no injuries in the November 25 incident, which occurred at approximately 10 p.m. in VMC. The aircraft had departed Hilton Head (HXD), S.C.
Last month Cessna said it had begun production line flow of its new Citation CJ2+ and would soon start production of the Citation CJ1+. On February 11, the first Citation CJ2+ (S/N 525A-000300) began its journey down the production line. This twinjet will be used to certify the avionics for the CJ2+.

Pratt & Whitney Canada recently reached the rated takeoff thrust of 1,350 pounds in sustained ground runs of its new PW615 turbofan engine, which will power the Cessna Citation Mustang. Cessna expects to receive the first engine shipsets early this year. Certification of the engine is planned by the end of 2005, and Cessna expects to certify the Mustang in the third quarter of 2006.
The European Union’s new emissions trading requirements for aviation could be imposed on a much larger group of business aircraft than has been anticipated. According to the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), the European Commission (EC) intends to extend emission trading to all aircraft weighing more than 5,700 kg (12,566 pounds).
The FAA has awarded FlightSafety International’s new Farnborough, England training center a Part 142 certificate, allowing crews to complete FAA-approved training at the UK facility. Excessive speed might have been a factor in Tuesday morning’s fatal crash of a Cessna Citation 560 at McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, Calif. The twinjet, registered to Goship Air in Ketchum, Idaho, was tracked by radar with about a 200-knot groundspeed at around 300 feet on final approach. The crew of Citation N86CE, on a flight from Hailey, Idaho, canceled IFR services shortly before the crash.
