Sukhoi Superjet 100

Thales Aerospace is busy developing the flight decks for the Sukhoi Superjet 100, ATR 600 series, Sikorsky S-76D and Airbus A350 at its Toulouse facility. At the same time, the company is working to visualize what the cockpit of a next-generation widebody might look like 20 years from now. The biggest potential breakthrough from this could be single pilot operations for commercial aircraft.

Superjet International insists that it will meet its commitment to deliver the first of its Superjet 100s to Aeroflot and Armavia before year-end despite another short projected delay in completing Russian certification in October, as opposed to September. A breakthrough for the delayed program came less than a month ago on June 23 when the airliner’s SaM146 engine achieved certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Powerjet received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the SaM146 turbofan on June 23.

The Powerjet SaM146 received its EASA certification yesterday, June 23, some six years after Snecma of France and Russia's NPO Saturn founded the joint venture to build the engine and more than seven years after Sukhoi Civil Aircraft chose the engine to power the Superjet 100.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) managed to fly the fourth prototype of the Superjet 100 this month, no thanks to Russian engine maker NPO Saturn, which partners with Snecma in building the Superjet’s Powerjet engines.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) managed to fly the fourth Superjet 100 prototype for the first time on February 4, notwithstanding continuing delays associated with the airplane’s engines, built by the joint venture between France’s Snecma and Russia’s NPO Saturn known as Powerjet.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) missed its December target for delivery of the first Superjet 100 regional jets to launch operator Aeroflot after delays involving the certification and delivery of the program’s PowerJet SaM146 engines forced the Russian manufacturer to revise its schedules once again.

Air Works, which claims to be India’s largest independent maintenance provider, has become the first in the country to complete certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency. The approval covers ATR 42 and 72 regional airliners, as well as the Boeing 737 series, and will soon extend to the Airbus A320 range. The company has also been selected as an authorized service partner for the Superjet 100 twinjet.
