Bombardier Aerospace has signed a nine-year agreement with Canadian airline Jazz Aviation for its Q400 Smart Parts program. According to the manufacturer, Smart Parts provides convenient access to parts using cost-efficient inventory management.
Bombardier Aerospace’s latest annual 20-year forecast of the market for single-aisle airliners and business jets generally sees these sectors “trending positively” as they continue to recover from the downturn in deliveries that began in 2009. Broadly speaking, the Canadian airframer’s forecasters see the commercial aircraft market (up to 145 seats) taking a hit from dips in global domestic product (GDP) around the world and inflated oil prices.
Bombardier Aerospace has named Fernando Lacerda Da Silva as sales director of new aircraft for Brazil. Lacerda joins Bombardier with 25 years of previous aircraft sales experience, nearly half of which was in Latin America. “The Brazilian market continues to evolve as business aviation grows in the region,” said Bombardier Business Aircraft regional vice president of sales in Latin America Fabio Rebello.
Bombardier Aerospace scored another fleet order for its Global series on Friday, announcing a firm order for eight of the ultra-long-range business jets from an undisclosed customer. The order consists of three Global 6000s and five Global 8000s, a deal valued at approximately $507 million based on 2012 list prices. Bombardier Business Aircraft president Steve Ridolfi said, “Sales momentum for the Global product line is strong, and we are experiencing tremendous success with the new Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets.”
Bombardier Aerospace recently opened a new office in Shanghai. It is home to the Bombardier Commercial Aircraft teams working with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Bombardier Aerospace’s supply chain organization in China, and it also serves as the headquarters for the Bombardier Commercial Aircraft sales and marketing team for China and North Asia.
CAE (Stand 468) has announced it has become an authorized training provider for Bombardier’s Learjet 31 and Learjet 60, in addition to the Learjet 40XR, 45, 45XR, 60XR; Challenger 300, 604, 605; and Global 5000, Global Express and Global Express XRS business jets. Training for pilots ranges from classroom-based courses to level-D flight simulators.
Bombardier Aerospace is conducting a Learjet 60XR demo tour this week in Poland. The tour, which started yesterday, is being done in conjunction with Polish-based charter firm Blue Jet, with stops for private viewings planned in Wroclaw, Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan and Gdansk, as well as a media viewing during the Warsaw leg. “This is an exciting tour for Bombardier and Blue Jet,” said Bombardier Business Jets vice president of sales for Russia, CIS, Central/Eastern Europe, China, Asia-Pacific and Australia.
Bombardier Aerospace has strengthened its alliance with Fokker Services to increase the availability and reduce the cost of spare parts for operators of its out-of-production Dash 8/Q-Series 100/200/300. Under the agreement Fokker Services has secured more than 2,600 part numbers from Bombardier for worldwide distribution. Bombardier will also continue to market and sell Dash 8/Q-Series 100/200/300 parts to operators worldwide.
Bombardier has begun the first set of systems tests and simulations for the C Series airliner in its systems integration rig, known also as the Complete Integrated Aircraft Systems Test Area (Ciasta) or “Aircraft 0,” the company announced Wednesday.
“It’s true we may have been a bit complacent; we were maybe arrogant,” Eric Martel, president of Bombardier customer services and specialized and amphibious aircraft, said of his company’s past attitude to business-jet product support on Monday at the 2012 Bombardier Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Conference for the Learjet, Challenger and Global in Montréal, Québec.
