Ljubljana, Slovenia-based business aircraft management and charter firm Elit’Avia appointed Puja Mahajan as its new COO. In her new role, Mahajan will manage Elit’Avia’s growth strategy, ensure safety across all operations and “deliver top-notch client services.” Most recently, she was director of business aircraft flight operations at Bombardier Aerospace, where, among other accomplishments, she ran the award-winning Safety Standdown Program for five years.

Bombardier Aerospace has expanded its support services in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the addition of a new regional support office (RSO) and parts depot, located in ExecuJet South Africa’s facility at Lanseria Airport.
Bombardier business jet operators in Europe will soon have access to a broader range of services through Bombardier’s service center at Amsterdam-Schiphol International Airport. Bombardier will add engine services, interior refurbishment and aircraft cleaning and detailing services to its line and heavy maintenance offerings for Learjets, Challengers and Globals.
Five Bombardier Dash 8-100 regional turboprops at Norway’s Widerøe’s Flyveselskap had undergone 80,000-flight cycle (FC) inspections by last month as part of an extended-service program (ESP) approved by Transport Canada and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2009. Of the 299 Dash 8-100s built, some 100 constitute the near-term market for the life-extension modifications, according to the manufacturer. Bombardier expects a further 128 will reach the 80,000-cycle threshold during the coming nine years.
Saying it is “confident in the strong, long-term potential of the business aircraft industry,” Bombardier Aerospace released a 20-year forecast on Friday that predicts deliveries of 24,000 business jets worth $650 billion in the segments in which the company competes. Bombardier’s latest business aircraft market forecast anticipates 9,800 aircraft deliveries worth $269 billion from 2013 to 2022 and 14,200 aircraft worth $381 billion from 2023 to 2032.
Bombardier Aerospace received a firm order from an undisclosed customer for 12 Global 8000s worth about $804 million, the Canadian aircraft manufacturer said today at the Paris Air Show. Unveiled at the 2010 NBAA Convention, the 7,900-nm-range Global 8000 is slated to enter service in 2017.
Bombardier Aerospace took the wraps off the Challenger 350–an upgraded Challenger 300 with a new wing, more powerful engines, larger windows and redesigned interior– May 19 on the EBACE show floor. NetJets was also announced as the launch customer for the new $25.8 million twinjet, which is $1 million more than its fraternal twin, which Bombardier will continue to offer. First deliveries of the new Challenger are scheduled to begin in May 2014.
Bombardier Aerospace announced last month that Nordic Aviation Capital of Billund, Denmark, has signed a firm purchase agreement to acquire four Q400 turboprops. Bombardier places the value of the contact, based on list prices, at $134.77 million.
Bombardier Aerospace’s Safety Standdown Asia returned to Asia yesterday for a third time. It was held in conjunction with the ABACE show at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao. Free for participants, Safety Standdown Asia “provides pilots, aircrew and flight departments with insights into the factors that precipitate errors in judgment and highlights ways to mitigate them,” according to Bombardier (Chalet 380). The seminar combines both knowledge-based and skill-based training with a focus on human factors.
Bombardier Aerospace appointed Ian Ludlow general manager of its Amsterdam service center. He has 30 years’ experience in commercial and business aircraft operations and maintenance from numerous management and consulting roles within the UK and Europe. Ludlow, who will focus on building strong relationships within the operator community and with regulatory authorities, is known for successfully managing aftermarket supply chains, international deployment and business development.
