According to the latest business jet market update from J.P.Morgan, recent data shows further weakness in the pre-owned business jet market. Used inventory rose to its highest level since late last year, while pricing showed another sequential decline, the firm said. Business jet flying bounced back, however, providing a glimmer of hope.

GAMA’s board of directors elected Steve Taylor, president of Boeing Business Jets, the association’s chairman for 2014. Taylor previously served as GAMA’s vice chairman of the board and as chairman of the flight operations policy committee. Joe Brown, president of Hartzell Propeller, was selected as GAMA’s vice chairman. He will also continue to serve as chairman of GAMA’s policy and legal issues committee. Meanwhile, GAMA’s board of directors approved Stevens Aviation as a member company.

South Korea’s air force would be best served in the near term by a mix of fighters that includes an advanced version of Boeing’s F-15, according to retired U.S. Air Force general and former chief of staff Ronald Fogleman. The F-15 would provide needed combat capability to counter the threat posed by North Korea right away, whereas Lockheed Martin’s F-35 will lack full combat capability until around 2020 when its Block 3F software is installed and tested, he said.

Horizon Air and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters reached a tentative agreement in late September on a five-year contract extension for the airline’s 280 mechanics, fleet service agents and other fleet support employees. According to Horizon parent company Alaska Air Group, the proposed deal calls for wage increases and several unnamed “quality-of -life enhancements.”

Air Capital Interiors, a new cabin refurbishment specialist, is open for business in Wichita. Located in a 9,000-sq-ft renovated facility, Air Capital is a partner in the new venture with interior detailing and cabin renovation specialist Appearance Group. Both are located at Colonel James Jabara Airport. “Our core customer will be those maintenance facilities that don’t have interior capability,” said Air Capital president Rodney Wilson.

Actor and general aviation pilot Harrison Ford will receive NBAA’s Al Ueltschi Award for Humanitarian Leadership during the opening session of the association’s annual convention in Las Vegas on October 22. “In addition to his extensive work as an outspoken champion for general aviation, including numerous appearances before Congress, Ford also regularly flies missions in support of humanitarian and philanthropic causes,” NBAA said. “For example, Ford has participated in the Cessna Citation Special Olympics Airlift.
