Jetex Flight Support has taken its first major step to expansion in South America, particularly in Brazil. Earlier this month Jetex started supplying fuel to international operators in domestic airports in Brazil. The company sees Brazil as a growing market for private aviation, with business aircraft traffic at airports within 100 miles of São Paulo doubling during the past five years. Jetex said it will work directly with into-plane agents to help lower prices for their clients by eliminating third-party costs.

In less than two years, with the backing of Brazilian asset management and private equity firm Rio Bravo, Avantto has signed more than 350 customers and assembled a fleet of 24 jets and 23 helicopters.

Brazilian tax, police and aviation authorities joined forces to seize nine business jets last week, and they have targeted 13 more aircraft. According to officials, Brazilians allegedly own and use the jets but registered them overseas to avoid Brazilian state and federal import taxes of nearly 35 percent. Foreign-registered airplanes can remain in Brazil for up to 60 days without paying import duties.
