A little more of Hawker Beechcraft is moving out of the Air Capital of the World as Stuart B. Millner and Associates has begun auctioning off assets of three Wichita-area plants being closed by the aircraft manufacturer. The work done at these plants is being subcontracted out to vendors or moved to Hawker Beechcraft’s facilities in Mexico.

The FAA has agreed to drop its decertification case against Phoenix Heliparts in return for the Mesa, Ariz., repair facility withdrawing its appeal to the NTSB of the FAA’s revocation of Phoenix Heliparts’ Part 145 repair station certificate last August.
Hillsboro Aviation (Booth No. 1350) continues to grow its business in China. The company currently has more than 100 Chinese airplane and helicopter student pilots training at its Hillsboro, Ore., facility and is the only Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approved school for both airplane and helicopter training in the U.S.
A new National Park Service proposal to cap the number and further restrict the routes of flights near the Grand Canyon is being criticized as overly restrictive by individual operators and the United States Air Tour Association. The new rules would prohibit direct overflights and mandate operators convert to "quiet technology" aircraft within the next decade.
Atlantic Aviation parent company Macquarie Infrastructure announced last month that its facility and lease at Fresno Yosemite International Airport was sold to a Ross Aviation subsidiary, while the FBO and leasehold of its property at Cleveland’s Cuyahoga County Airport were sold to the Cleveland Jet Center. The terms of the deals were not disclosed.
A ceremony was held last month at the Naval Air Station at Brunswick, Maine to celebrate the “approval of the public benefit conveyance of the property to the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority.” This event marks the official transfer of the former military base and its 990 acres of runways, hangars, ramps and other facilities to civilian use.
Hawker Beechcraft and the State of Kansas announced a formal agreement on December 21 for the airframer to remain in Wichita for the next decade.
Gulfstream Aerospace acquired a 253,000-sq-ft building in Savannah, Ga., to house its growing research-and-development program.
Executive Flight, a 29-year-old FBO and charter and maintenance provider headquartered in Wenatchee, Wash., has opened a satellite repair station at Boeing Field in Seattle. Executive Flight has been maintaining its own air ambulance aircraft at Boeing Field for the past 14 years, according to Mike Mahood, director of maintenance for the charter operation and repair station accountable manager.
XOJet late last month announced 50-percent year-over-year growth and that it expects more of the same or better into this new year. The Brisbane, Calif.-based charter operator and private jet membership provider is accelerating expansion of its fleet, adding a Bombardier Challenger 300 and its first Challenger 605 last month. The company plans to add another of each type this year.
