Aurigny Air Services plans to start new service between its base in Guernsey in the Channel Islands and London City Airport on September 8, starting with a wet-leased Fokker 50 turboprop. Plans call for two round trips each week with the Fokker for four to eight weeks, at which time Aurigny expects to start flying a newly sourced ATR on the route.

Oceania Aviation’s Airborne Systems subsidiary has received an STC from New Zealand’s CAA for its bike rack on the Airbus Helicopters AS350 Ecureuil. Made of aluminum alloy, the device can hold up to six bicycles (three on each side). The system weighs 120 pounds and trained ground crew can load the bikes in 20 seconds, according to the company. An AS355 STC addition was planned for last month.

Of the 70 aircraft scheduled to be parked in the LABACE 2014 static display here at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, the Viking Twin Otter was the only one that didn’t make it to the big stage. The company got its display aircraft here all the way from Canada (a customer aircraft, to be delivered after the show), but that wasn’t enough.

Global deliveries of turbine business airplanes increased 7.2 percent in this year’s first quarter over the first quarter of 2013, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. The jump in deliveries will most likely mean a boost to business at centers that perform aircraft completions and refurbishments and companies that provide interior components.

Farnborough airshow attendees who want to indulge in the creative experience of light and sound that is the Wind Tunnel Project (www.thewindtunnelproject.com), can visit the old tunnel sites during the airshow.

TAG Aviation is providing shuttle buses to the site for visitors this week. There is parking near the wind tunnels for those who want to make their way there independently. The address is: Buildings Q121 and R52, Hall Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, GU14 7JP.

Fresh Jets formally launched its online live empty-leg platform in March, offering a new way for charter users to be introduced to charter operators. Instead of just listing inventory that may or may not exist, Fresh Jets is a software system that charter operators and corporate travel departments can use to take advantage of empty legs.

Primarily known for its Wipline seaplane floats, Wipaire of South St. Paul, Minn., highlighted its custom interiors for the Caravan, Grand Caravan and Twin Otter. With Wipaire’s Chinese distributor, Alfred Lau of Aviation Supplies, on hand at the booth, visitors viewed photos of recent custom work, including a Grand Caravan EX interior with carpet, cabinets and executive seating, and a partial executive configuration for a new Twin Otter.

On the heels of their agreement signed at the Dubai Air Show in November, Dubai-based trip support company Skyplan Services (Booth H327) and China-based Oriental Sky Aviation (OSA) are exhibiting together for the first time here at ABACE 2014.
