Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, Beagle Bay, Australia, Jan. 14, 2010–The turboprop single was cruising at approximately 9,500 feet en route to Koolan Island when the pilot noticed a drop in the engine torque indication and a corresponding decrease in engine oil pressure. He advanced the throttle, but the torque and oil pressure continued to decrease, so he diverted to the nearest airstrip.

Hawker Beechcraft King Air C90, Fort Worth, Texas, June 3, 2010–The King Air, owned and operated by the FAA, was substantially damaged when the nose landing gear collapsed on landing at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. While cycling the gear during an inspector currency flight, the crew reported hearing a loud bang and observed a “gear unsafe” indication.

Aircraft interiors specialist EADS Sogerma has some sweet sleep for sale. The Airbus subsidiary formally introduced its “Ultimate Sleeper” premium first- class bed at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg in May, promoting it as having “the comfort of a real bed.”

Located at Battersea on the south bank of the Thames River, the London Heliport remains the UK capital’s sole licensed heliport.

Socata TBM700, Memphis, Tenn., Jan. 26, 2010–After approaching the destination airport near dusk in deteriorating weather, the pilot forgot to lower the landing gear before landing, causing substantial damage to the aircraft’s fuselage skin, stringers and wing attachment fittings.
