Rockwell Collins is applying years of flight-test research to its new Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics system by combining computer-generated synthetic scenes with infrared enhanced-vision views on the primary flight displays and HUD. The goal, the company proclaims, is to give business jet crews the ability to “go anywhere, anytime.”
Weather-data provider Meteorlogix introduced AviationWatch, a so-called “smart weather” briefing and alerting service for pilots that can be accessed on the ground and in the cockpit. Meteorlogix currently powers MxVision AviationSentry for a number of FBOs and corporate flight departments and maintains an online product that gives subscribers access to weather data over the Internet.
Ibis Aerospace selected the FlightLogic synthetic vision system from Chelton Avionics of Boise, Idaho, for its Ae270 a turboprop single, which is scheduled for certification by the end of this year. FlightLogic combines HUD symbology with real-time forward-looking 3-D views of terrain and obstacles, and the so-called highway-in-the-sky concept (in which the pilot flies the airplane on the approach through a series of virtual boxes).

Honeywell’s AIS-2000 OneView multi-region satellite television receiver has received FAA certification in four business jets–the Gulfstream IV; Bombardier Global Express and Challenger 604; and Boeing Business Jet. Honeywell and Thales Avionics have taken the wraps off a new high-speed-data hardware package that enables the companies’ satcom systems to handle data at rates as high as 128 kbps.
