Former Biggin Hill Airport director Peter Lonergan and Comlux Aviation Group president Richard Gaona are the recipients of the 2011 European Business Aviation Awards, which are given jointly by the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and U.S. National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). The awards were presented here at EBACE on Tuesday during the opening session.

The Helicopter Association International held its first General Aviation Association CEO Forum at Heli-Expo yesterday, bringing together leaders of four major general aviation (GA) organizations in addition to HAI.
NBAA said that major business aircraft manufacturers have committed to exhibit at the 2012 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition, which will be held February 28 to March 1 next year in Shanghai.
The Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) will rejoin the business aviation show circuit on February 28 to March 1, 2012 at Hongqiao Airport in Shanghai, China. ABACE had been held from 2004 through 2007, but the 2009 show was canceled due to the economic downturn. As before, ABACE will be hosted by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA).
The fourth Middle East Business Aviation (MEBA) show is off to a strong start, with exhibitor numbers climbing more than 40 percent from 2008 and registered visitors topping the 7,000 mark, up from 5,500. But this could be the show's last staging here in Dubai for the time being, with plans being made to relocate the event to another prime location in the Arabian Gulf.
NBAA released its 2010 Business Aviation Fact Book, a comprehensive profile of the industry that provides real-world information and data about its value. According to the report, business aviation contributes some $150 billion to U.S. economic output and generates more than a million jobs.
According to NBAA’s final tally for its 63rd annual meeting and convention held last week in Atlanta, there were 1,083 exhibitors, eight more than last year; the static display was sold out, with 93 aircraft at DeKalb Peachtree Airport; and attendee registration was up more than 5 percent from last year to 24,206. “It has been a pretty challenging couple of years for business aviation,” said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen.
Minnesota has designated October as General Aviation Appreciation Month, becoming the 17th state in the past year to issue an official declaration in support of the industry.
The NBAA National Meeting and Convention will be hosting a Career in Business Aviation Day on Thursday for local youth from 12 years old to college students. The goal of this initiative is to slow the erosion of existing talent in the business aviation industry and attract the next generation of aviation enthusiasts and innovators.
