The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has agreed to pay the FAA $3.5 million in fines for numerous violations of airport rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) standards that occurred between December 2010 and June 2012 at John F. Kennedy (JFK), Teterboro (TEB), La Guardia (LGA) and Newark (EWR) airports.

Rising sea levels and extreme weather events attributed to global climate change will increase the flood risk to airports and other transportation infrastructure in coastal regions of the U.S., according to the draft report of a government advisory committee. The trend over time will reduce the reliability and capacity of the transportation system, the study warns.
Landmark Aviation announced on Thursday that it has made its entrée into one of the top business airports in the U.S. The Houston-based FBO chain, which was recently sold to previous owner the Carlyle Group, has purchased Teterboro Airport-based First Aviation Services from Goldman Sachs for approximately $100 million, according to sources familiar with the deal.

The Category 1 hurricane, combined with cold fronts from the north and west, also disrupted operations at airports in Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Sikorsky’s Associated Aircraft Group (AAG) has established a base at New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport (TEB) to provide access to Manhattan from all metro-area airports.
The flight from TEB to the Wall Street heliport takes less than 10 minutes. AAG will be providing the service in S-76s configured for seven passengers and crewed by two pilots. The helicopters are equipped with emergency pop-out floats, EGPWS and traffic avoidance systems.
For the first time in its 65-year history, the FBO at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport now has a private operator–Sheltair. The company marked the milestone with an official grand-opening ceremony at the facility yesterday afternoon.

In conjunction with the opening of the new terminal, the airport said it will extend the permissible duration for corporate jet parking to 30 days from 14.
