An “informal” meeting between Platinum Jet Management and the FAA is scheduled at the agency’s northeast regional office on November 1. The purpose of the get-together is to discuss the FAA’s proposed $1.86 million penalty against the company for its alleged FAR violations in connection with the February 2 accident at Teterboro Airport, N.J., in which a Challenger 600 crashed following an aborted takeoff.

A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) told AIN its chairman, Anthony Coscia, would use “whatever means necessary,” including legal action and “substantial” increases in landing fees, to achieve its agenda at Teterboro Airport (TEB).
The FAA has appealed an NTSB administrative law judge’s decision in favor of Darby Aviation on its appeal following the March 23 FAA emergency suspension of its Part 135 certificate. The NTSB last month was scheduled to either affirm or reverse the judge’s decision.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the FAA are considering a proposal to expand noise-abatement procedures at Teterboro Airport (TEB). Currently, Runway 24 has published noise-abatement procedures. The new proposal would implement similar noise-abatement procedures for aircraft departing from the other three TEB runways.
