Teterboro (N.J.) Airport has become the first in the nation to implement a Web-based airport-specific flight crew briefing. It was produced by the National Air Transportation Association’s (NATA) Safety 1st program and funded by a grant from the FAA.

Community objections to the increased use of Teterboro Airport, and to its use by the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), have pitted Rep. Steve Rothman (D-NJ) against supporters of the airport and in particular Boeing Business Jet director of regional sales Steve Barlage.
Due to the New York City metro area airspace redesign, the FAA has introduced three new Stars, effective December 27, for Teterboro, La Guardia and Newark Airports. At Teterboro, the Metro Arrival has been replaced by the Jaike Rnav One Arrival, which is an FMS Star. The Korry One Arrival into La Guardia took the place of the Minks Star. And at Newark, the RBV Star has been superseded by the Dylin One Arrival.
Late last month the FAA issued several Notams eliminating enhanced Class B airspace and reducing the dimension of the temporary flight restriction areas in Washington, New York and Boston. The Notams also restore Part 91 access to New York’s JFK and La Guardia Airports.
On March 25, 1911, the worst factory fire in the history of New York City erupted in the three floors occupied by the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in a tall building on the northwest corner of Washington and Greene streets in Greenwich Village. The fire began in the cutting room on the eighth floor shortly after 4:30 p.m. and, fed by thousands of pounds of cotton fabric, it spread rapidly.
Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., is about to get its second FBO after several years of being served by one operation. CAS Handling of White Plains, N.Y., is scheduled to start pumping fuel and offering the typical business aircraft transient and tenant services in the fall, according to Stewart Airport operator National Express Corp.

Based on projections that airline flights at New York La Guardia Airport won’t return to their pre-September levels until the end of this summer, the FAA has extended the period for public comments on five long-term approaches to allocate capacity at LGA. The new comment period closes June 20.
Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., has appointed Clough Harbor Associates of Albany, N.Y., to lead the completion of the airport’s master plan update for future development. The airport is operated under a 99-year lease from the state of New York by National Express Corp. (NEC), the U.S. branch of the UK’s National Express Group, a $3.7 billion holding company.
American International Aviation Corp., one of NBAA’s oldest members, celebrated 50 years of operations, all accident free, at a dinner held in the company’s hangar at Teterboro Airport, N.J., on September 18.
