Overall deliveries of Bombardier business jets in the six months ending July 31 declined slightly to 99 aircraft from 101 in the same period last year, the company said yesterday. However, it noted that backlogs for its business jets remain “strong” despite the credit crunch facing financial markets, while deliveries are poised to “accelerate” in the second half of the year.
Executive aircraft operator PrivatAir is preparing for a full launch of its Select Membership block charter program later this year in the U.S. and expects to extend it to European customers early next year. The Swiss-based company has been quietly offering Select Membership to some clients in the U.S. over the past two years and has used the time to refine its pricing and service structure.
Bombardier Learjet 35A, Truckee, Calif., Dec. 28, 2005 – The NTSB blamed the pilot’s inadequate compensation for the gusty crosswind (20 to 30 knots) and failure to maintain an adequate airspeed while making a circling instrument approach and maneuvering in a steep turn close to the ground for the fatal crash of the Learjet 35.
An unidentified “multi-airframe fleet operator based in Georgia” has inked a deal with CRS Jet Spares to be its primary supplier for Gulfstream and Learjet parts. CRS Jet Spares will handle AOG, logistic and inventory control functions to increase dispatch reliability throughout the customer’s fleet. Under the terms of the agreement, CRS will position inventory at various strategic locations and provide 24/7 coverage for AOG requirements.
São Paulo, Brazil-based Ocean Air has been named an authorized service facility for all Bombardier business jets. The company is offering round-the-clock AOG assistance, maintenance and services at São Paulo’s Congonhas International Airport. Certified for Learjets since 2005, Ocean Air now offers maintenance and service capabilities for all Bombardier Challengers and Globals.

Los Angeles-based Cloud Nine Aviation received the first Learjet 60XR this week, following an entry-into-service delivery ceremony at the Learjet manufacturing facility in Wichita.
Aircraft brokers can usually tell when the summer solstice has arrived by the lack of aircraft being sold, but, as some had earlier predicted, the historically inactive months of June and July have for many been indistinguishable from any other this year. While the total worldwide jet inventory level treaded water for the last few months, the deal flow has remained constant.
Gulfstream Aerospace, for the second year in a row, achieved the highest overall score for product support (pertaining to its original models), according to the results of an annual AIN survey of turbine business aircraft operators. Cessna Citation also repeated its previous performance by coming in second, with customers giving the Wichita manufacturer an even higher overall score than last year.
Just days after receiving airworthiness certification from Transport Canada, Bombardier’s first Global 5000 with a finished interior made its debut at the Farnborough Air Show (held July 19 to 25), where it was also announced that the Canadian-built business jet has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification.
