Ruag Aviation has delivered its first cabin completion project, a Bombardier CRJ200 airliner that was transformed into a 10-seat VIP configuration. The entire cabin, including electrics, was reworked with a luxury interior that included wireless cabin entertainment, private area, club seating and dining areas. The company’s cabin interior program offers a one-stop-shop that covers design consultancy, cabin design, furniture construction, cabin integration and certification. It also offers exterior painting and design services.
Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6
Tony Cestnik, president of Anchorage, Alaska-based Aero Twin, carved a niche for himself and his business by making the Cessna Caravan more rugged to operate in the bush, and the experience he built in that untamed territory shaped his approach to the process.
During a press conference at last week’s Heli-Expo convention in Las Vegas, Kamov general designer Sergei Mikheyev dropped something of a bombshell when he revealed that the Kamov Design Bureau had produced the initial conceptual design for China’s Changhe (CAIC) Z-10 attack helicopter. Having made its public debut at last year’s Zhuhai airshow, the Z-10 is in the early stages of production and has entered service with at least one Chinese army unit.
Southeast Turbines has completed renovating its 10,000-sq-ft facility at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The FAA-certified repair station specializes in the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A, PT6T and JT15D. Southeast Turbines’ capabilities include on-wing hot-section inspections, compressor-turbine disk reblade, true and balance, small exit duct rework to include “zero grind” hot-section installations, unscheduled power section repairs, fuel nozzle cleaning/recertification and bleed valve overhaul.
Vector Aerospace has announced the grand opening of a new Vector Aerospace Engine Services-Atlantic PT6A engine MRO facility in Brisbane, Australia.
“Australia is a sophisticated aviation market and is an extremely important market for us in terms of the tremendous growth opportunities,” said Jeff Poirer, president of Vector Aerospace Engine Services-Atlantic.
Shadin Avionics (Booth No. C7027) announced its new AIS fuel flow “behind the glass” system for the new Bell 412EPi at Heli-Expo ’13.
“Shadin continues to invest in our fuel management systems with an emphasis on new products that bring value to the modern cockpit,” said Shadin Avionics project manager Trevor Lund. “We look forward to working with Bell Helicopter owners to improve flight performance and safety.”

Compared with the original PT6, the latest PT6A is four times more powerful, has a 40 percent better power-to-weight ratio and 20 percent better fuel consumption. Did we mention safety? BBA Aviation continues to advance its available helicopter services. Here at Heli-Expo ‘13 the company unveiled a new website for its International Governor Services unit, which features its various services including maintenance, repair, overhaul and exchange of engine control products such as fuel controls, torque limiters and power turbine governors for Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T (Twin Pac) and Rolls-Royce M250 engines.
Pratt & Whitney Canada has a number of engines in development for the medium-twin helicopter category. The latest version of the PT6C family, the PT6C-67E, powers the Eurocopter EC175. Meanwhile, the PW210S is about to enter into service on the now-certified Sikorsky S-76D. Two more PW210 variants will power the AgustaWestland AW169 and the Eurocopter X4. Last year, the Longueuil, Quebec-based engine manufacturer (Booth No. N3718) produced more than 850 turboshaft engines.
Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services firm Vector Aerospace (Booth No. C4332) renewed its engine services agreement with Air Greenland, based in Nuuk, Greenland. Under this two-year extension, Vector provides Air Greenland with fixed- and rotary-wing engine repair and overhaul support from its two facilities in Canada–Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services North America in Richmond, British Columbia.
