King Schools and Rockwell Collins signed an agreement to share online training opportunities available from the two companies.

King Schools is hosting online training for the Pro Line 21 avionics system on its Website, including programs for King Air and Hawker 800XP Pro Line 21 systems. And Rockwell Collins is hosting on its Web site King Schools’ turbine training programs.

StarPortUSA, based at Orlando-Sanford International Airport, was recently named an authorized line maintenance service center for Honeywell Aerospace. The MRO will perform line maintenance on Honeywell propulsion engines and APUs. The company is an authorized Honeywell avionics sales, installation and service center.

In response to historic flooding in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area in June, Rockwell Collins made a $2 million contribution to aid local flood relief efforts. The funds will be used to support the immediate needs of flood victims, as well as ongoing clean-up and restoration activities. The company has also established the Rockwell Collins Flood Recovery Fund to enable employees, retirees and suppliers to donate to flood relief efforts.

Jet Works Air Center recently broke ground on its 43,000-sq-ft maintenance hangar expansion in Denton, Texas. It is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year and will include 40,000 sq ft for additional aircraft maintenance and repair, inspections and avionics installations. Similar to the existing Jet Works facility, the new hangar will also accommodate long-range business jets such as the Global Express and Gulfstream V.

Rockwell Collins Aviation Services and FlightSafety have developed a training program for Cessna CJ1 pilots designed to prepare students for the FSI type-rating program. Prerequisite Interactive Courseware (PICware), consisting of two interactive CD-ROM programs, will be offered through FlightSafety as part of its CJ1 pilot training program.

Flight Display Systems in Alpharetta, Ga., last month said the FAA has granted it parts manufacturing approval for three new cabin LCD monitors, an endorsement that will make it easier for some dealers to install the equipment. The newly introduced monitors include a 10.4-inch LCD that sells for a list price of $2,989, a 17.1-inch widescreen LCD that lists for $6,094 and a 26-inch widescreen that costs $10,940.

Gulfstream yesterday ordered 40 of Arinc’s new SkyLink inflight broadband satellite communications systems for installation on its jets. It is the launch order for the system, which Arinc claims offers Internet connections that are five times faster and a third the price of Inmarsat’s rival Swift64 service.
