JetTech received an STC for installation of Garmin’s G600 avionics system in the Cessna Citation 500, 501, 550, 551 and S550. JetTech-approved Garmin dealers are eligible to install the G600 STC in customer aircraft. The JetTech G600 STC retains the jet’s existing RVSM system It also includes JetTech’s proprietary air data interface unit, according to JetTech founder and partner/manager Rob Irwin, allowing the aircraft’s RVSM solution to be displayed on pilot and copilot instruments.
Garmin received an STC for installation of the G500H helicopter avionics system in the Robinson R44. The installation requires a 10-hole instrument panel. For R44s with the seven- or nine-hole panel, a custom panel is available from Garmin, or customers can purchase one from Robinson. The G500H price is $24,995, and optional helicopter synthetic vision technology adds $8,000. The installation requires a $500 parts kit, and the custom Garmin instrument panel costs $4,500.
JetTech has been awarded a supplemental type certificate for the new Garmin G600 glass-panel EFIS installation modification specifically for the Cessna Citation 500 series (500, 501, 550, 551 and S550). JetTech is now offering kits available through JetTech-approved Garmin-authorized dealers. The installation also includes additional major equipment upgrades such as the replacement of the existing iron vertical and horizontal gyros with an advanced solid-state attitude heading reference system.
FOCUS on…LAW ENFORCEMENT This year at Heli-Expo there were plenty of examples of helicopters dressed up with law enforcement credentials of every flavor, but it took a keen eye to spot what was new equipment on these hard-working machines. For 2012, companies brought avionics, airborne computer location equipment, air-to-ground microwave receivers and sophisticated, high-power searchlights.
Hawker Pacific is hailing a couple of breakthroughs in avionics upgrades at its Asian service centers. At its Manila base in the Philippines, the company installed a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite on a Beechcraft King Air 350 turboprop. This “first” was a collaborative effort with its service center in Cairns, Australia. Meanwhile in Singapore, three King Air B200s received–for the first time in Asia, according to Hawker Pacific–Garmin G1000 systems.

According to Garmin, the Bell 525 will feature a four-display system and incorporate Bell’s new awareness, reactive and control (ARC) cockpit. Garmin is displaying the G5000H in a 12-inch screen configuration this week at Heli-Expo, but displays are also available in 14-inch size.
New York’s Helicopter Flight Services (HFS) has joined the Tour Operators Program of Safety (TOPS, Booth No. 4015). HFS operates as HeliNY from the downtown Wall Street Heliport. The operator flies a Bell 406 and recently took delivery of three new 407GXs equipped with the Garmin 1000H avionics suite. HFS began service in 1986.
