Flight Options plans to equip most of its fleet of fractionally owned business jets with Aircell’s high-speed Internet system, a decision that will give the company’s aircraft owners and jet card customers in-flight Wi-Fi access anywhere over the continental U.S.
Here at NBAA as a first-time exhibitor, Liebherr-Aerospace (Booth No. 4073) is rapidly gaining ground in the Americas and other parts of the world and developing new products for aircraft interiors. Its parent company, Liebherr-International in Bulle, Switzerland, opened its first U.S. operation in Saline, Mich., and recently has moved more aggressively to gain market share in the Western Hemisphere.
When asked about the Hawker 450 at the Hawker Beechcraft Corp. (HBC) press conference yesterday, chairman and CEO Bill Boisture said, “We are going to introduce another version of that fine, light jet.” He declined to reveal any additional information. He also said there will be a follow-up Hawker 400 timed “to meet the economic updraft, and that’s all I’m going to say about it.”

Bill Boisture joined Hawker Beechcraft as chairman and CEO on March 23. An experienced and current commercial/instrument pilot, Boisture flew fighters in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from the Air Force and Navy (Topgun) Fighter Weapons Schools, achieving the rank of major. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Air Force Academy and a master’s in business administration from the University of New Haven.
While economic considerations may have forced NBAA to cancel its first Light Business Airplane (LBA) show, scheduled for last March in San Diego, most of the educational programs aimed at smaller aircraft operators and planned for that event are being offered here at this year’s convention.
There are still white tails sitting on the ramps, but the numbers are dwindling. The inventory of used aircraft for sale remains staggering, but it too is shrinking. The skies aren’t filled with business jets, but as of July–the last month for the which data is available–the number of takeoffs and landings was rising.
