Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Company (HEAI) has reached an agreement with Hainan Airlines parent HNA Group to cut in half a firm order for 50 ERJ 145s assigned to Hainan subsidiary Grand China Express. As of April 30, the Chinese factory had delivered 12 ERJ 145s to Grand China under the terms of the original contract, signed in August 2006.

Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Company (HEAI) has reached an agreement with HNA Group, owner of Hainan Airlines, to reduce the original firm order for 50 ERJ 145s to Hainan subsidiary Grand China Express from 50 to 25 airplanes. As of April 30, HEAI had delivered a total of 12 ERJ 145 jets to Grand China under the terms of the original contact, signed in August 2006.

Bombardier Learjet 60/Embraer ERJ 145, Chicago, July 21, 2008–The NTSB determined that the probable cause of the near miss of the Electrolux Home Products Learjet and the American Eagle Embraer was the controller’s failure to ensure the appropriate separation between two airplanes operating on runways where flight paths intersect.

Grand China Express (GCE), the country’s largest regional carrier, wants to be Asia’s biggest regional carrier. A subsidiary of Hainan Airlines, GCE has 38 aircraft serving 55 Chinese cities with more than 80 scheduled daily routes. “We aim to be the top player in Asia by 2012, grabbing 90 percent of the regional airline market,” said Chen Feng, chairman of Hainan Airlines, which ordered 50 E190s and 50 ERJ 145s for GCE in August 2006.

Brazilian airplane manufacturer Embraer announced three separate orders for its Legacy business jets here at MEBA yesterday, as well as the addition of Falcon Air Services of Abu Dhabi to its growing list of worldwide service centers.

During the next six weeks Embraer will be delivering the first of its Lineage 1000 business jets to the Dubai-based Al Fahim group. The new model is derived from the Brazilian airframer’s 98- to 114-seat E190 regional jet and, offering five separate cabin compartments, is well suited to Middle Eastern customers’ appetite for plenty of space in flight.

“World air travel should grow [at] five percent per year between 2009 to 2028,” according to forecast data released last week by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. The highest growth will be in China, estimated at more than 7.5 percent per year, followed by Latin America and Russia/Commonwealth of Independent States each at 6 percent.

The FAA has given a Class 4 repair station rating to Constant Aviation of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The rating authorizes the company to work on all metal-construction aircraft with an mtow of more than 12,500 pounds. Only 2 percent of all repair stations worldwide have been awarded a Class 4 rating and Constant Aviation is the first in Ohio to receive the designation.

Embraer and Aeroméxico Connect signed a long-term Parts Pool Program services contract to support their growing fleet of Embraer ERJ 145s and E190s. With this agreement, the company becomes Embraer’s largest Latin American customer in the program. The agreement covers more than 500 part numbers for Aeroméxico Connect’s ERJ 145 and E190 fleet and includes landing-gear overhauls for the ERJ 145s.
