When the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) released its third-quarter delivery totals on Halloween, it was preparing the industry for some trick or treating.
Embraer Executive Jets (Chalet A7) is enjoying strong sales with a cumulative total of more than 630 sold in 50 countries to date, according to Colin Steven, the unit’s vice president of sales and marketing, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “We delivered 99 jets in both 2011 and 2012, despite the total market deliveries having dropped 6 percent in the same period,” he said.
A new study released last month by Newtown, Conn.-based Forecast International projects “restrained growth” in the regional airliner market over the next 10 years, stemming from such factors as major-airline consolidation. The study projects gradual and steady growth between 2013 and 2020, followed by a cyclical downturn in 2021 and 2022 that will negatively affect delivery numbers.
Bombardier released its third quarter 2013 financial results this morning with most of its numbers showing a slight decline in comparison with the same period last year. Revenues for the corporation as a whole totaled $4.1 billion at the end of the quarter on September 30, compared to $4.2 billion for the same fiscal quarter last year. Bombardier Aerospace accounted for $2 billion in the quarter, compared to $2.3 billion last year.

Embraer’s third-quarter numbers were released today, and while deliveries of 25 executive jets are down by four airplanes from the previous quarter, it was a decided improvement over the 13 deliveries recorded in the third quarter last year. In the first nine months, Embraer shipped 66 business jets, 20 more than it did in the same period last year.

Embraer Executive Jets anticipates demand for 805 business jets over the next decade, according to its China Executive Aviation Market Outlook 2014-2023, released on Tuesday at the Chinese International Business Aviation Show in Shanghai. The outlook, which is based on “comprehensive studies of the country’s economic scenario,” added that large-cabin business jets represent about 51 percent of future demand, accounting for 78 percent of total value of deliveries.
Total GA airplane billings in the first half of the year reached $10.4 billion, an increase of more than 25 percent over the same period last year, according to statistics released last month by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). The tally marks the first time since 2008 that the industry revenue has exceeded $10 billion in the first half of the year.
