Canada-based Flying Colours has announced its first Saudi-registered aircraft maintenance project. Arriving early next year, the Challenger 604 will undergo a variety of major inspections, service bulletins and interior refurbishment at Flying Colours’ Peterborough, Ontario facility.
Bombardier Global Express
VistaJet announced a deal today worth up to $7.8 billion for 56 Bombardier Globals, with options for up to another 86. Deliveries of this latest batch of Bombardier jets under firm order are due to begin in January 2014 and run through the end of 2017.
Dallas Airmotive has been selected by Bombardier Aerospace to provide engine support at its North American service centers. The two parties have signed an engine service agreement whereby Dallas Airmotive will support the Learjet 30, 40, 50 and 60 series; Challenger 300 and 600 series; Global Express, XRS, 5000 and 6000.
Rolls-Royce has signed an agreement with Bombardier Aircraft Services that allows the MRO’s centers in Dallas, Tucson, Hartford (Conn.) and Fort Lauderdale to perform maintenance on the BR710. The engine powers the Bombardier Global Express, Global Express XRS, Global 5000 and Global 6000. A spokesman for Bombardier told AIN the new relationship between the two companies allows the centers to perform line maintenance on the Rolls-Royce engines and also to remove them for shipment to the OEM for heavy maintenance.
The owner of a new $4 million FBO due to open on the Isle of Man by the middle of this month is promising substantial savings for aircraft operators using it as a transit point in and out of the European Union (EU). Private Jet Company (PJC) claims it can provide savings of up to 60 percent from reduced exposure to the cost of the EU emissions trading scheme (see box). The British Crown Dependency is outside the EU so its operators can also avoid value-added tax (typically around 20 percent in Europe) on aircraft importation, as well as on fuel and services such as handling.
Bombardier signed an engine service agreement with Rolls-Royce that authorizes the airframer’s service centers in Dallas, Tucson, Ariz., Hartford, Conn. and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to perform maintenance on the BR710 engine that powers the Global Express/XRS/5000/6000. Under the agreement, Bombardier’s service centers can perform line maintenance and engine removals on the engines, which will be sent to Rolls-Royce for heavy maintenance.
In an ever-shrinking world of instant gratification in which going fast is good, then going faster must be even better.
Honeywell didn’t come right out and say it, but the company’s 2012 market forecast introduced a new category devoted to the concept of farther and faster. The forecast calls it the “very high speed/ultra-long range” category and notes the first use of that category in 2010 with the Gulfstream G650.
Bombardier is moving to upgrade its customer product support and training options. To that end, the company announced a major expansion of its service capabilities, including deployment of a fleet of mobile response trucks and three new regional support offices co-located with Bombardier factory-owned maintenance facilities in Tucson, Hartford and Fort Lauderdale.
When Bombardier Aerospace announced the Global 6000 at the NBAA convention in 2003, it was as a major upgrade of its Global Express XRS. Today, the Canadian OEM describes it as “the most accomplished and luxurious business jet ever brought to market.”
NetJets unveiled its new Bombardier Global 6000 at the NBAA show static display on Sunday. The fractional ownership giant has spent 18 months developing the Signature Series cabin interior for the large cabin aircraft and will also roll out the new design to other new members of its fleet, including the Challenger 605 and 300 models.
