Universal Weather and Aviation has enhanced its free iPad app, Universal Mobile, with the integration of its UVTripPlanner tool. The system now provides the same data that is used and audited daily by the Houston-based company, such as information on worldwide airports, FBOs, ground handlers, in-flight caterers, ground transport handlers and hotels. Among its utilities, the app allows operators to check fuel pricing and uplift requests through the UVair fuel program.

MedAire now offers an iPad app, MedAire Trip Ready, which provides up-to-date information about medical and travel risks. The Phoenix-based company, which is part of the International SOS organization, is demonstrating the app at its booth (No. N3513) here during NBAA 2013.

Exec Jet Mobile 4.0

After 12 months of flight testing in 2010 and 2011 and a soft launch in 2012, Exec Jet Mobile’s BizjetMobile systems division has completed its first successful year of commercial operation on a range of corporate jets. Here at the NBAA show (Booth No. C11338), Exec Jet Mobile is displaying its full BizjetMobile product line. “There is finally an affordable wireless in-flight connectivity solution for private aircraft owners and operators,” said Exec Jet Mobile CEO Thomas Linn.

Flight Display’s iPad app puts the cabin management system at a passenger’s fingertips, displaying moving maps, streaming video and even an external view of a takeoff.

What started in David Gray’s basement a bit more than 13 years ago as Flight Display Systems will now fill an entire BBJ cabin with just about every high-tech connectivity toy and necessity a passenger could want, and they’re on display here at NBAA 2013 (Booth No. N3124).

Boeing launched a suite of iPad apps last week directed at airline maintenance providers. The aircraft manufacturer spent more than a year developing the apps with American, Alaska and United, with the goal of delivering necessary aircraft information to maintenance technicians more quickly.

Jeppesen’s new version of its Mobile FliteDeck e-chart app for the iPad and iPad mini is now available at the Apple App Store, the company announced late last week. Mobile FliteDeck v2.1, which is compatible with both iOS 6 and the new iOS 7, further enhances pilot situational awareness and optimizes user interaction, Jeppesen said.

Boeing’s new iPad application, Maintenance Turn Time, provides access to manuals, part numbers and other information to resolve maintenance issues plane-side and collaborate with anyone with Internet access. Included are Toolbox Mobile Library (mx document access), hyperlinks between multiple manuals, Toolbox Mobile Parts with part availability, and Maintenance Turn Time, which gives technicians a secure connection to collaborate with colleagues when troubleshooting a maintenance issue.

Execjet Mobile has released its latest product, Version 4.0 of the Bizjet Mobile service, which allows passengers aboard any telecom-equipped aircraft with an onboard Wi-Fi network to send and receive text messages and emails.
