Rockwell Collins is offering customizable features for its Airshow 3-D moving map for the Apple iPad. “Now users can tailor their experience by adding company logos, customizing place names, selecting up to six languages and accessing high-resolution city maps,” said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager of flight information solutions, cabin and electromechanical systems for Rockwell Collins. The new features are available through the Apple iTunes App store.

Dassault Falcon is offering a new app for mobile and tablet users. The Falcon Customer Service app offers instant touch-call features for AOG hotlines, the technical center, spares and field service. The app also helps operators locate service centers and Falcon pilot contacts.

West Star Aviation recently launched a new and improved version of its Experience-on-Call app. Specifically designed for iPhone and iPad users, the free app can be downloaded from the iTunes store. The app was designed to provide direct contact to a full directory of professionals at West Star, wherever assistance is required. It allows users to select and directly contact the West Star team member who best fits their needs, based on aircraft type, service needed and location.

The Banyan Pilot Shop announced a “June is Father’s Day All Month Long” promotion that includes an online aviation-oriented Father’s Day gift guide and a chance to win a $250 Banyan Pilot Shop gift card. The gift guide includes the shop’s most popular items, such as flight bags, watches, iPad kneeboards and aviation apparel. Visitors can enter the drawing for the gift card in person at the shop, which is adjacent to Banyan’s FBO at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, or online. The drawing will be held on July 1.

Business jet operators needing FAA approval to use Apple’s iPad running the ForeFlight mobile app can now sign up for Sporty’s Easy Approval system. For $799, the Sporty’s team will help jet operators governed by Part 91F, 91K or 135 gain FAA approval to use ForeFlight on an iPad as an electronic flight bag (EFB). Included in the price are documentation, training, iPad testing and operational guidance. The training includes Sporty’s “Flying with ForeFlight” video.

Jeppesen introduced the aviation industry’s first integrated navigation data service (INDS) iPad solution, which allows for a direct connection–via Wi-Fi–between the Apple tablet and an aircraft’s avionics system. First available for the Pilatus PC-12 NG, the iPad app will manage cloud-based, wireless data updates for installed Honeywell Primus Apex avionics that are paired with the Aspen Avionics CG-100 Connected Panel. The new INDS iPad app is expected to be available this summer.

Engine monitoring services company Jet-Care announced at EBACE it has received in excess of 50,000 engine trend data sets via its iECHO GPA iPad app since introducing it at the 2011 NBAA Convention. iECHO enables pilots to gather data during steady state cruise and, once a connection is made, send the data directly to Jet-Care for processing and evaluation. Receiving the data on a flight-by-flight basis enables Jet-Care to notify the operator of any trend changes more quickly.

In 1890, Louis Glass and William Arnold invented the nickel-in-the-slot phonograph, or as those who grew up in the 1960s might remember it, the jukebox. Cabin electronics supplier Flight Display Systems (Booth 1925) has reintroduced that icon of music history by the same name–the Jet Jukebox–but with a lot of new bells and whistles, not to mention a monster server with 500 gigabytes of storage.
