Cincinnati, Ohio-based Sporty’s Pilot Shop (Booth 1357) is highlighting at NBAA 2014 its Sporty’s Easy Approval program for iPad use for Part 91F and Part 135 operators. The program is a simple solution for FAA approvals of iPads as an electronic flight bag (EFB) and paper chart replacement using the ForeFlight Mobile app.
For flight operations with multiple-aircraft fleets and pilots that use iPad electronic flight bags (EFBs), app developer ForeFlight (Booth 4645) has integrated its ForeFlight Mobile iPad app with Comply365’s MyMobile365 dashboard. Comply365 specializes in enterprise optimization, and the dashboard helps fleet operators manage iPad deployment for groups of users.

HawkEye 7200, the company’s new portable satcom with Bluetooth support for sending forms from electronic flight bags (EFBs), is now in production. Post-beta test development incorporated feedback from users, resulting in a device that has received U. S. Forest Service approval for automated flight following.
The FAA has issued Avionics & Systems Integration Group (ASIG) an amendment to the Part 25 approved model list (AML) STC for its flyTab Class 2 iPad EFB installation, adding the Bombardier Dash 8-100/200/300 and Q400 to the STC. The AML STC is available for both U.S. and Canadian operators of the types covered by the STC. ASIG’s eXtreme Flight Bag (XFB) system adds more rugged components to the mounting system for iPads in cockpits.
Jeppesen quickly responded to the September 5 alert about the unscheduled September 4 JeppFD iPad update that reportedly destroyed the application’s terminal approach charts in the process of adding new data. The error occurred when the “update in progress” message appeared on the update screen. Jeppesen told NBAA on September 6 that the update was actually intended for the demonstration side of the JeppFD system and was released in error.
Gulfstream Aerospace launched a new iOS app that allows customers to peruse the company’s pre-owned aircraft inventory on an iPad or iPhone. The Gulfstream Pre-owned Aircraft Sales app offers real-time inventory listings with interior and exterior photographs; detailed aircraft information, including flight hours and landings; the aircraft’s entry-into-service date; and pricing. Push notifications alert customers when a listing changes status.
Continuum Applied Technology’s Version 11 of Corridor Aviation Service Software adds three modules and a mobile application. Modules include Tool Crib for tracking calibration and usage; Time & Attendance, a personnel-management tool to track employee time and attendance; and Planning & Scheduling, which integrates work orders and quoting with a graphical calendar view to schedule and monitor progress.
Business aircraft operators will be able to get information about a variety of travel risks on their iPhones and iPads through a new app being launched here at the LABACE show by MedAire (Booth 3012). The MedAire Trip Ready app allows uses to search locations by ICAO airport codes to find updated information on factors such as health and safety risks, as well as an array of useful data on topics such as hotels and restaurants.
Jeppesen released an enhanced version of its FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag solution for the iPad. Among the iOS 7-compliant features are new departure and arrival runway depiction (SID and Star) rendering on the en route map to raise pilot situational awareness; a new “flight info drawer” to create, load, view and save the active flight data; user-defined waypoints; and comments to identify important points along the en route map.
Gulfstream Aerospace has redesigned its website, MyGulfstream.com, and launched a corresponding iPad application.
“Gulfstream strongly believes that when it comes to communicating with our customers via mobile tools, more is better. Customers can receive critical information right in the palm of their hands with the MyGulfstream app,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream Product Support.
