Business aircraft sales, acquisitions, trading and brokerage services firm Jetcraft opened a new office in Hong Kong today under the Jetcraft Asia banner. This establishes a permanent base in Asia for the company, which has been active in the region despite not having a “formal presence” there. Jetcraft co-owner and board member Jahid Fazal-Karim predicts a growing market for pre-owned business aircraft in Asia, particularly in China, within the next five years.

According to NBAA, exhibitor chalets are sold out for the 2012 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Abace), which will be held late next month at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. “Due to limited space on the ramp, NBAA offered for the first time a standardized structure and layout for OEM exhibitors at Abace,” said NBAA senior manager for regional forums and static displays Joe Hart.

Helicopter engine manufacturer Turbomeca and aircraft leasing firm Milestone Aviation Group yesterday at Heli-Expo 2012 inked a partnership on a fixed-hourly-cost maintenance program for Milestone customers flying Turbomeca-powered helicopters. “Through the Global Support Partnership, Turbomeca and Milestone are jointly developing new engine support solutions and services for Milestone’s lease customers around the world,” the companies said.

Aircraft charter provider VistaJet plans to step up its expansion of operations across Russia, Asia, Africa and South America. By 2015, the Switzerland-based group also intends to double the size of its fleet to more than 60 jets. VistaJet is in talks with prospective partners in China and expects to have an established operation there by year-end. On January 12, the company reported that it anticipates final figures for 2011 to show a 20-percent increase in passenger numbers and a 25-percent hike in revenues. It also anticipates 50-percent growth in profits.

Regional airline service has been slow to take root in the Middle East, and especially at the entry-level turboprop end of the market. But now, a start-up operator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing to launch a feeder service to the region’s aspiring hubs in Abu Dhabi and Doha, giving locals the chance to bypass crowded Dubai.

Based in Fujairah, UAE, Eastern Express plans to ferry business passengers into Abu Dhabi and Doha to connect with growing Gulf-based international passenger networks starting during this year’s first quarter.
