Bombardier Aerospace (Chalet CD61) is to open a company-owned and operated business aircraft service center at Singapore’s Seletar Airport in 2013. The new regional center will offer light maintenance tasks for all Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft, and will be the OEM’s customer services hub for the Asia Pacific region. The facility forms part of Bombardier’s future customer service strategy.

Speaking to the Chinese media during his visit to Beijing last October, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Russia and China have much to gain from jointly developing a widebody airliner. He called for more joint Sino-Russian projects in space and aeronautics, as well as other high-technology spheres, stating that these may produce “huge economic effect for development of both countries.”
Airbus Military has embarked on a major program to assist the Indonesian aerospace industry expand its capabilities and to put the plane-maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI - Indonesian Aerospace) back on its feet after suffering heavy losses accumulated after the Asian economic crisis in the late 1990s. In October the two companies signed a teaming agreement defining the initiatives of the initial 18-month phase of the recovery plan, following a strategic collaboration agreement signed last July.

Bombardier Aerospace delivered 163 business jets during the 11-month fiscal year that ended December 31, compared with 155 shipped during the 12-month Fiscal Year 2010. (FY2011 was only 11 months because Bombardier’s board of directors voted to change the financial year-end from January 31 to December 31, effective Dec. 31, 2011.)
Embraer delivered 50 business jets during the fourth quarter, a figure that includes the first Phenom 100 assembled at its new facility in Melbourne, Fla. For the entire year, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer shipped 99 executive jets (83 light jets and 16 large jets), down from the 115 jets it delivered in 2010. Embraer’s firm order backlog, which includes both airliners and executive jets, currently stands at $15.4 billion.

The Dubai Air Show last week brought a welcome breakthrough for Bombardier’s efforts to build a sound base of sales for its new C Series airliner. Turkey’s Atlasjet signed a letter of intent (LOI) for 15 of the CS300 version. According to Chet Fuller, Bombardier sales vice president, the agreement could be firmed up by year-end.
