Jet Aviation signed an agreement today with Luxaviation Group, a major European business aviation operator, to provide exclusive handling services through its network of FBOs in Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA). Under the FBO service agreement, Jet Aviation will provide dedicated handling services to Luxaviation’s managed fleet of almost 100 aircraft at its FBOs in Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The San Diego Superior Court in California recently ruled that three airplane hangars purchased and occupied on leased space at San Diego Brown Field are “removable trade fixtures.” As such, the court found that the hangars are the sole property of the tenant, Finch Aerospace, which operates the California Flight Museum. Finch subleased the space for the hangars from FBO Lancair, which argued that its master lease with the city gave it control over its tenants’ hangars. Therefore, it prevented Finch from selling or moving the hangars, a situation that led to the lawsuit.

F&E Aerospace selected Jetex as the host FBO for the aviation events it organizes in the UAE at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai World Central, namely MEBA and the Dubai Airshow. At these events, Jetex will provide aircraft pushback and towing to all show aircraft. The FBO will also provide a VIP lounge for passengers and crew, with services such as customs and immigration, visa arrangements, aircraft parking and coordination of aircraft display areas. MEBA 2014 will be held in December, followed late next year by the Dubai Airshow.

Nevada’s unmanned aircraft systems test site is ready to conduct “vital research” into integrating unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the nation’s civil airspace system, the FAA announced yesterday. The FAA granted Nevada a two-year Certificate of Waiver or Authorization (COA) to use an Insitu ScanEagle UAS at Desert Rock Airport in Mercury. With the approval, Nevada is the third of six UAS test sites to become operational.

To support its growing FBO consultancy business, Aviacare has opened a new office at Cannes Airport. The three-year-old business is positioned to support both the European FBO network and the growing demand for its services in Africa. The company consulted for Lagos, Nigeria-based Evergreen Apple last year on matters relating to FBO services, design and management and has helped establish business aviation services in other countries on the African continent.
