Comair Mechanics Reinstate Asap

November 30, 2010, 7:07 AM

Comair and the International Association of Machinists (IAM) last month agreed to reinstate the Aviation Safety Action Program (Asap) for the company’s mechanics. Comair’s mechanics withdrew from the original Asap in July, after the IAM charged management with taking punitive action against employees who submitted voluntary incident reports under the program. Since then the sides have worked to reach a revised agreement that calls for increased oversight, including a dedicated program manager, better communication to employees of findings from the Asap safety reports and quarterly meetings by IAM, FAA and Comair leaders “to ensure the ongoing success of the program.”
