DayJet, which plans to start per-seat, on-demand operations using Eclipse 500s in November, yesterday unveiled its five initial DayPorts (service cities), all of them in Florida: Boca Raton, Gainesville, Lakeland, Pensacola and Tallahassee. DayJet chose these cities because each represents a “strong and growing local economy and business environment that is underserved” by airlines. Within 12 months of launch, DayJet expects to open four more DayPorts in Florida and 12 more across three Southeastern states. Separately, DayJet also announced its “Day-Tripper” contest; those who live and routinely travel between the five Florida launch cities are invited to submit their accounts of business travel within Florida and how they could benefit from DayJet service. The contest runs through August 15, with three winners to be selected from each market. All 15 winners receive a free year’s membership in the DayJet network.
