Iridium Satellite of Bethesda, Md., has added four North American air-ambulance operators to its subscriber rolls.

Air Methods has decided to install Sky Connect Tracker systems for Iridium-based automatic flight following as well as cockpit voice and data communications in its aircraft.

California Shock Trauma Air Rescue (Calstar) will install Iridium-based voice, automated tracking and text-messaging services in its fleet of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
Ontario-based Ornge is installing Latitude Technologies’ Skynode S200 Iridium terminals on its fleet of Sikorsky S-76 helicopters and Hawker Beechcraft King Air 200 fixed-wing aircraft. The S200 systems will allow medical personnel to communicate with doctors in the Ornge operations center and will provide flight tracking and messaging.

Reach Air Medical Services has selected SkyTrac Systems to provide Iridium-based automatic flight-following and satellite communications for its fleet, including the Agusta 109A, Cessna 421C, Eurocopter EC 135 and Hawker Beechcraft King Air 200.
