According to TraqPak data released today by aviation specialized services firm Argus, business aircraft flight activity increased 4.9 percent last month compared with June last year. Activity last month was positive across all aircraft types: midsize jets led with a 10-percent increase over June 2009, followed by light jets (5.8 percent), large-cabin jets (2.5 percent) and turboprops (0.7 percent). By operator type, fractional flying led the pack with a 6.7-percent year-over-year increase; Part 91 operators saw their flying climb by 4.7 percent, while Part 135 charter operators logged a 4.3-percent increase. Midsize jet activity at Part 135 charter operators for the second month in a row soared by double digits at 18.9 percent. The only other double-digit increase was fractional turboprops, which saw a 15.6-percent climb mainly due to more operations at Avantair. Continuing a trend from the previous month, both Part 135 turboprop and fractional large-cabin jet flying decreased in the mid-single-digits from a year ago. Argus’s TraqPak data “is serial-number-specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the U.S.”
