James Hoblyn, president of Bombardier customer services and specialized and amphibious aircraft, died while jogging on Sunday, July 3. He was 46. “James’s leadership and enthusiasm in supporting and driving improvements across our business and the broader aerospace community will be greatly missed by all of us at Bombardier,” the company said in a statement. “Our team is deeply saddened by this tremendous loss and we will unwaveringly continue on the journey to reach the bold vision James spearheaded.” Hoblyn joined Bombardier in 1998 and was appointed to his present position in 2008. He has been the driving force behind recent increases in after-market support in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, Asia and Africa. “James Hoblyn was a true leader and friend to many in the business aviation community. We are stunned and saddened by the loss of such a good person and consummate professional, whose enthusiasm for, and contributions to, the industry will long be remembered,” said an NBAA spokesman. Bombardier will hold a moment of silence for Hoblyn on Thursday, July 7 at 8 a.m. (EDT). Bombardier has established an online page for those wishing to share their condolences with the Hoblyn family. Hoblyn is survived by his wife and three daughters.
