Gulfstream Aerospace has expanded its worldwide service and support network by opening a parts and materials distribution center near Los Angeles. The 5,000-sq-ft facility at Van Nuys Airport primarily serves Gulfstream customers in the western U.S. and Canada, shortening delivery times and minimizing shipping costs.
“The inventory in Van Nuys, which [complements] the current stock in Long Beach, means more parts are now available on the West Coast and don’t need to be shipped from more distant distribution sites. They’re also immediately available to local operators in Van Nuys,” Derek Zimmerman, Gulfstream vice president of customer support, told AIN.
“The greater Los Angeles area, including Burbank, Long Beach and Van Nuys, has a heavy concentration of Gulfstream operators. As our fleet continues to grow, we need more distribution space than we have at our existing service center locations,” Zimmerman said.
The Van Nuys facility is expected to carry approximately $15 million in parts and materials by year-end. An on-site sales representative arranges for local pickup and delivery of parts.
Gulfstream maintains a worldwide spares inventory of more than $1.4 billion.
