Fiber Art has begun delivery of a VIP interior panel kit for a Boeing 767 cabin designed by Aviation Concepts of Dallas and being finished by Completion Air at East Alton, Ill. Ed Harris, director of marketing and sales for Cibolo, Texas-based Fiber Art, said the project, including tooling, required “only eight weeks” from order to delivery.

Duncan Aviation has introduced an aircraft interior refurb program known as “Arkitektuair,” the result of a three-year study and the implementation of new technology, machining and efficiency processes. A computerized numeric-controlled cutting machine allows production of components at tighter tolerances and reproduction of the pieces quickly and easily using electronic “templates,” according to officials.

AirCell’s AGT.02 airborne cellular telecommunications system has been certified for use on the Beech Premier I. The AirCell option provides Premier I customers with full-time telephone, fax, e-mail and Internet access capabilities to and from the aircraft. The system will be available as a factory option by year-end.

Gore Design Completions recently outfitted a Boeing 767-200ER in slightly less than six months, an accomplishment the San Antonio-based company claims is a record for the interior outfitting of a green widebody airliner in a VIP/ corporate configuration.

Aerospace Technologies Group of West Palm Beach, Fla., has been selected by Gulfstream Aerospace as the preferred supplier of aircraft window shade systems for the Savannah, Ga. business jet manufacturer’s new Gulfstream V-SP. Under the agreement, Aerospace Technologies’ Powertech Shade System will be factory-standard equipment on the GV.

Aircraft Completion Management, a new company established by completion and refurb veterans Mike Herchick and Ron Gero, opened for business in July to offer “precise and comprehensive guidance of aircraft through the completion and refurbishment process.” The company is based in Richmond Heights, Ohio. Before setting up Aircraft Completion Management, Herchick managed large aircraft completions for Flight Options.

Last year Swedish composites technology specialist Lamera introduced Hybrix, a stainless-steel “fiber-filled sandwich” that looks and behaves like a regular stainless-steel solid sheet that can be processed and formed with the same tools but weighs half as much. This year, in partnership with Sandvik Decorex, it has re-introduced Hybrix in permanent colors and surface textures under the DecoBrix brand.

Western Aircraft expects to open its newly renovated, full-service interior shop this month at its Boise, Idaho facility. Dubbed the “Interior Re-Completion Center,” it includes a 1,600-sq-ft paint booth for interior components and another 8,000 sq ft for upholstery and soft goods application. The center is housed in an existing hangar renovated for the express purpose of expanding Western’s cabin refurbishment capacity.

Air Data’s JetAir bio-protection air purification system has received Transport Canada manufacturing approval. The Montreal-based company expects supplemental type certification early this summer for Bombardier’s Global Express XRS and Global 5000. U.S. independent completion and refurbishment specialist Midcoast is offering the system as an option to operators of both Global variants.
