Jetex Flight Support has kicked off its expansion into South America with the launch of fuel supply services in Brazil. The Dubai-based group now says it can supply jet-A to operators at any Brazilian airport, having previously been confined to international airports.

In an effort to raise the bar on customer service, the Air Elite FBO network has joined forces with training providers Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center and ServiceElements. Formed last year from the remnants of the former ExxonMobil Avitat network, the fledgling Air Elite brand comprises 25 FBOs, including nearly all of the former U.S. Avitat locations, which decided to remain together after the oil company pulled the plug on its support of the brand.

Landmark Aviation hosted an open house this week to showcase its newly remodeled FBO at Roanoke (Va.) Regional Airport. The nearly $1 million project included a terminal remodel with an updated executive conference room and bistro area, as well as hangar updates. Terminal renovations included new paint, carpet, tile, furniture and fixtures.

Texas-based flight training provider Anson Air has broken ground on a new 24,000-sq-ft FBO facility at Sugar Land Regional Airport in Houston that will cater mainly to the region’s piston aircraft community. The $3 million office and hangar facility, expected to open next spring, will have its own avgas fueling operation. The corporate jet segment at the airport is served by the city-owned FBO, Global Select.

Zurich-based ExecuJet Aviation Group is extending its partnership with Bilen Air Service to include aircraft handling at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokchen Airport, thus providing 24/7 general aviation flight support capability to the city, which serves as a link between Europe and the Middle East, following the recent introduction of flight restrictions at Istanbul Atatürk Airport.

While most business aviation travelers think of Teterboro or Westchester County Airport when flying to New York City, a third airport in the area makes a strong case to put its name into the conversation. Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, N.Y., is less than an hour from Manhattan and its proximity a mile from the Long Island Expressway makes for convenient access to the Hamptons summer enclave at the eastern end of the island.

Volo Aviation announced today that it has been awarded a five-year contract to manage Sebring Flight Center, the municipally owned FBO at Sebring Regional Airport in Central Florida. To increase traffic at the field, the company plans to reach out to commercial and corporate clients who might be able to take advantage of Sebring’s designation as a U.S. Foreign Trade Zone. According to Volo, this designation allows operators departing Sebring on international flights to uplift fuel without having to pay federal excise taxes.
