Aviation Partners and iJet Technologies’ new joint venture, APiJET, has completed deployment of its data service across Icelandair’s fleet. ApiJET offers a data service suite of connected on-aircraft and ground-based analytics. The company said the service can apply to any airliner and provide real-time visibility of on-aircraft data.
John Schramm, APiJET CEO, explained the value of the service centers on productivity and cost savings. “[It offers airlines the ability] to tap into timely, logic-driven insights that are both predictive and preventive,” he said. “With the APiJET service, airlines can control and utilize their data to begin saving money the minute the service starts flying, even across a mixed fleet; and it’s flying now on several aircraft types.”
Icelandair began deploying the service at the end of last year and has used it across its entire fleet of Boeing 757-200s, 757-300s, and 767-300ERs. “The APiJET solution has delivered value for Icelandair from the first installation,” said Icelandair program director Gretar Mar Odinsson. “The ability to deliver value across the entire airline is unlike anything in the market today.”
APiJET calls the data service a smart aircraft system that requires zero capital expenditure and provides a data management platform, aircraft monitoring analytics, and first-party applications. The system works with third-party applications and APiJET schedules payment on a per-tail, per-month basis. It also gives airlines the ability to customize data targets to fulfill their unique operational specifications.
Icelandair began working with iJet technologies in 2016 in an effort to monitor aircraft data points in real time. After determining the operation’s efficacy, iJet began searching for a partner to elevate its service and chose Aviation Partners to provide technical, financial, and industry relationship support.
Schramm explained that the service allows for a uniform management of mixed fleets. “Our event data and applications enable an airline like Icelandair to compare, standardize, develop, and improve experiences fleet wide and on a daily basis,” he said. “APiJET changes the game for customers.”
