Boeing Takes Minimalist Approach to 737 MAX
For many months Boeing expressed a preference to introduce an all-new airplane in the narrowbody jet segment to replace its 737NG family by 2019.
Boeing expects the 737 MAX to reach the market by 2017. It will be powered by CFM International’s new Leap-1B engine, which will have a fan diameter somewhere between the current CFM56-7's 61 inches and the Leap-1A's (for the Airbus A320neo) 78 inches.
