Hexagon Geospatial, known for advanced visual analytics, demonstrated at the 2018 Farnborough Airshow its expanded capabilities and offerings for the aviation industry enabled by its October acquisition of Belgium’s Luciad, a supplier of geospatial information tools. U.S.-based Hexagon’s geospatial information systems can be harnessed to third-party platforms to provide a front end capable of displaying highly detailed forecasts or real-time data for military and civil applications.

“Anyone looking at logistics resupplying, weather avoidance, mission planning, or real-time data management can exploit these products,” said Tony Wheeler, director of the defense sector at Hexagon Geospatial and a retired Royal Air Force wing commander.

Hexagon's LuciadRIA browser app enables developers to create interactive intelligence applications and provides a configurable API that supports custom data feeds with desktop-like visualization of imagery, satellite pictures, vector-based data, and dynamic content. Among its myriad capabilities, the app can help airlines pick out the best routes for their fleets based on forecast or real-time data, as well as allow military planners to manage combat operations and mitigate mission risks.

LuciadLightspeed, a modular desktop solution, provides the foundation for advanced geospatial analysis applications. This includes providing a common operational picture to command staff, sharing tactical plans in night vision goggle (NVG) format, and exploring twitter feeds for trend analysis and security of major events.

For access to data in the field and disconnected environments, Android-based LuciadMobile offers intuitive touch-based access to applications, and can integrate peripheral devices like a compass and camera into situational awareness applications.

LuciadFusion is an all-in-one geospatial data management and publication solution, able to handle multi-gigabyte shapefiles and quickly share them.
