At its general assembly last month, the European Regions Airline Association commended AIN regional airlines editor Gregory Polek, below, for his article, "Europe's regional carriers blaze path toward recovery" (July 2002, page 82), which had been submitted for the Hank McGonagle ERA Award for Journalistic Excellence. Oliver Sutton, editor-in-chief of Interavia, won the award and freelance journalist Mike Hirst also received a commendation.
Separately, AIN’s December 2001 issue received a bronze award in the trade magazine category of the 15th Annual Gold Ink awards. The issue had been submit-ted by AIN’s printer, Quebecor World St. Cloud of Minnesota. The Gold Ink awards, co-sponsored by PrintMedia and Printing Impressions Magazine, are considered North America’s most prestigious annual print competition. Awards are based upon print quality, technical difficulty and visual effectiveness. This year more than 1,800 entries competed for Gold Ink recognition in some 40 categories. Gold, silver, bronze and pewter awards are given within each category.
