Raytheon Aircraft reported an operating loss of $41 million in the first quarter, compared with a loss of $4 million in the first quarter a year ago. The Wichita-based company also recorded sales of $494 million in the first quarter, down 22 percent from $637 million in the same period a year ago. Raytheon attributed the loss to “lower volume and adverse mix, with shipments of Hawkers, Beechjets and King Airs down 26 units year-over-year.” The Premier I was the only Raytheon aircraft that showed increased deliveries, though that entry-level jet entered service only last June. Deliveries in the first quarter compared with the first quarter last year (in parentheses) were: Hawker–9 (15); Beechjets–5 (8); and King Airs–12 (29). The company said it had a backlog of $4.9 billion at the end of the first quarter.
