AkzoNobel (Booth 2068) is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Alumigrip aerospace coatings brand. The company is displaying its Sun King diamond coating throughout the week at NBAA 2018. The coating, in combination with Alumigrip, provides an attractive finish without negatively impacting performance.
The Alumigrip base coat and clear coat system provides for a high-gloss finish while also reducing down time for customers. The product was first launched in 1968 as an option for general aviation coatings. Introduced last year, Sun King's diamond coating uses diamond crystals to enhance coating appearances. The diamond coating is applied as a clear coat that can be coated on top of any base color. Application of the coating is performed with standard industry coating practices. AkzoNobel has also marked the Alumigrip milestone through utilization of the product on a B-25 Mitchell bomber restoration project.
