A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

A consortium of aviation business services providers is partnering on the launch of a <a href="https://www.x1fbo.com/2024fbopulsesurvey">survey</a> designed to help shape the future of the FBO industry. The companies—service provider advisory Airside FBO, aviation real estate facilitator Business Aviation Group, and Miami-based software solutions developer X-1FBO—hope to gain confidential feedback from FBO owners, executives, and general managers on a variety of crucial topics such as operations, fuel management, and revenue strategies.
To encourage participation the group is offering several prizes, including a $500 Amazon gift card. The survey window closes October 4 and the results will be shared at the NATA FBO Success Seminar in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 8 and 9.
“The 2024 FBO Pulse Survey is a chance for FBOs to share their unique challenges and opportunities,” X-1FBO CEO Jim Wiley told AIN. “As the industry changes faster than ever—and the world around us at an even greater pace—this survey helps us understand and communicate these shifts and how we're adapting to them. By FBOs contributing their real-world insights and experiences, we can track progress, spot trends, and make smarter, data-driven decisions that benefit us all.”
