A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Million Air’s FBO at Austin Bergstrom International Airport (KAUS) has taken its first load of what will be continuous supplies of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). For the company, KAUS is its <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2025-07-01/million-air-brings-first-continual-saf-supplies-new-york">second</a> location to carry SAF.
“Austin is a thriving, business-centric city that also deeply values environmental responsibility,” explained Million Air CEO Roger Woolsey. “Bringing SAF to…Austin is about giving our customers meaningful options that align with both their travel needs and their sustainability goals.”
Produced from renewable feedstocks, including used cooking oil and other waste fats and greases, SAF—once blended with conventional jet fuel—is a drop-in replacement that meets ASTM D1655 standards for use.
The Austin fuel, originating in Texas and delivered by Avfuel, is a 30/70 blend, and every 8,000-gallon truckload represents a 19-metric-ton reduction in life-cycle carbon emissions. While not yet approved for use, neat, unblended SAF can provide up to 80% emissions reduction compared to fossil-based fuels.
Million Air Austin FBO represents Avfuel’s first distribution location in Texas. “The Million Air team has been an exceptional partner to work with in expanding sustainable fuel solutions,” said Mark Haynes, the fuel provider’s v-p of sales. “We’re proud to collaborate with them to establish our first consistent SAF-supplied location in Texas and help further their corporate initiatives on sustainability.”
